Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine. It is centred around the foundation of qi, the vital energy that flows throughout the body. Any form of disease is seen as an imbalance or blockage to the smooth flow of qi. Naturopathic physicians use acupuncture, Chinese herbs, cupping and moxibustion to build or move qi and restore the proper balance.
Specifically, acupuncture is the process of inserting extremely fine gauge needles into certain points on the meridians along which the qi flows. In the last half-century, acupuncture has been “discovered” by Western medicine as being especially effective to help with pain relief such as tension headaches or migraines, among other conditions.
Acupuncture visits are covered by most extended health care plans. Registered Acupuncturist appointments are available here at Yaletown Naturopathic Clinic.
