Gina graduated from the National Academy of Osteopathy in Toronto. Her schooling included advanced training in osteoarticular adjustments, craniosacral techniques, visceral manipulations, and myofascial release. These modalities require the practitioner to develop a highly refined sense of palpation. She gently brings her clients back into alignment through releasing trigger points, mobilizing the spine and joints, and bringing the organs and connective tissue back into balance.
Gina's early start as a competitive gymnast fueled her drive to understand movement and body mechanics. Her later studies in psychology and career in the field of mental health strengthened her understanding of the interplay between physical health and one's psyche. She is attuned to the indivisible connection between mind, body and spirit.
While exploring her own path to wellness and balance, she attended 10 day silent Vipassana meditation retreats and delved deeper into her yoga practice. Gina's training as a registered yoga teacher (RYT) allows her to knowledgeably guide clients through therapeutic stretches, and gives her clients the opportunity to develop a home based practice.
While Gina's focus is on healing the physical body, her background allows her to respond to emotional trauma and previously unexpressed grief as it arises. If desired she can offer breathwork and visualizations to increase mindfulness and help to release restrictions in the body.
She has a special interest in treating pelvic alignment issues and in working with clients who are motivated and actively involved in their healing process. She helps patients become more aware of their bodies and posture so the benefits of treatment are lasting.
Gina is an active member of the Society of Osteopaths of Canada (SOC). Check with your insurance provider to see if you are covered for osteopathy treatments under your extended health care plan.
